Going into the second week and moving towards the next Stretch Goal, so far so good! We wanted to take some time and show exactly how Porcelain Gods plays. This expansion is unique, not just to DrunkQuest but to games in general. It changes the dynamic of the game in such a fun an interesting way, it really becomes its own flavor.
First, lets take a look at the setup!
3-6 players play DrunkQuest as they always have. Dealing out Treasure and defeating Monsters. The circle moves from left to right as normal and Monsters are defeated at its close. However...
The deities goal is very different then the other players. They spend the game trying to descend in order to face the players. The quicker they descend the better chance they have of winning. In order to do so they need to force players into triggering Wraths. But along the way they'll be affecting the entire game with their own deck of Interventions. This deck contains Blessings, Smites and Nudges, the first two costing them Monsters to play. Let's take a look at some of the Blessings...
All Deity cards can be played at any time provided the God has the necessary fuel to power their cards. These cards act as a way for the Deity to influence a players actions. Blessings rewards players who are offering proper worship to the Deity. But If players aren't responding to the carrot a Deity can choose to use the stick...
Most Smites are centered around buffing the Monster and making it more difficult to defeat. A Deity needs the players to give them their Monster once it's defeated in order to power their best cards. If a player refuses to offer up their Monster it will bring down the Deities anger.
Of course, not all cards cost the Deity Monsters to use. A Deity may use Nudges at any time and almost all of them are free. Nudges are a Deities bread and butter during the game, lets take a look at a few...
These cards are played frequently and without cost.
...Of course the Deities ultimate goal is to descend. And They can't do that until 3 Wraths have been triggered. Triggering Wraths can be a challenge for the Deity but there are plenty of tools at the their disposal to make it happen. The first, is through Artifacts...
These powerful Permanents are mixed into the Treasure Deck and when drawn, immediately trigger a Wrath.
Another way for a Deity to get their Wraths triggered is through Ages...
Each Age affects the entire table. They are always in play and can be changed to a new one at the Deities will. When any player forgets or ignores an Ages rule, a Wrath is triggered!
There are also cards that the Deity has that trigger wraths on their own and Monsters can be turned in to flip a Wrath if they save enough!
Please let us know your thoughts and ideas in the comments and as always, thanks for backing!
In Part 2 we'll show off the Wraths, Deities and talk about the endgame!
